Croatia’s domestic political posturing is causing ripples in neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina. In an apparent attempt to bolster its right-wing credentials, the Homeland Movement, which is part of the government, recently called for the creation of a Bosnian Croat “electoral unit” and other measures to strengthen the position and powers of the Croat community in Bosnia.
In an interview for Balkan Insight, former Croatian Justice Minister Vesna Skare-Ozbolt discusses the proposals, and the way in which the Homeland Movement has pitched them. According to Skare-Ozbolt, the proposal has more to do with bolstering the Homeland Movement within Croatia than with improving the position of Bosnian Croats.
