After months of delay and allegations of foreign meddling, Romanian authorities have broadened their probe into ‘manosphere’ influencer Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan.
Andrew Tate was tight-lipped in front of journalists doorstepping his visit to Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism, DIICOT, on Wednesday, but he did say one thing: “I am a free man. I can move anywhere I want.”
For now.
On Wednesday, DIICOT said that prosecutors had expanded their investigation into Tate to cover new allegations that he sexually exploited a woman in 2017, taking advantage of her vulnerable situation to induce her to produce sexually explicit content and perform video chat activities, and that he and his brother Tristan laundered almost three million euros earned from human trafficking via two companies between 2018 and 2022.
They are accused of using the proceeds to buy land, cars and personal items and to upgrade a residential building.
