AMONGST the action on the opening day of Glorious Goodwood comes a typically tricky sprint, the Coral Rewards Shaker Handicap (4.10pm).
Whilst it is competitive, I do keep coming back to one and that’s the likely favourite LEXINGTON BLITZ.
He was deadly over course and distance on his penultimate run, travelling powerfully before kicking clear to win by over two lengths.
He then ran with credit to finish third, despite softer ground blunting his speed in the Dash on Derby Day.
Back at Goodwood and on better ground, he looks the leading contender and is well worthy of a play in the World Pool Win market.

I’ll also play ADRESTIA in the Win and Place markets.
This filly was prolific in 2025, winning the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes at Royal Ascot, before being narrowly touched off by a nose in this very contest.
She struggled at the start of this season but her handicap mark has slipped as a result, and her most recent run at Ascot was better than the bare result.
She’s now three pounds below her mark she ran off in this race last year, and with Oisin Murphy back aboard, now is the time to side with her.
With a juicy pool to be expected, I’ll also play the pair in a World Pool Quinella with VINTAGE CLARETS, who has gone close the last twice, and RUN BOY RUN, where Toby Moore takes off a handy seven pounds following an eye-catching effort last time.
If we can get either of those four in the first two, a nice payout will be forthcoming.
