Prime Minister Edi Rama claims the daily protests shaking Tirana are misguided or manipulated from outside. BIRN spoke with some of the most dedicated protesters to find out more about their hopes for environmental and democratic changes.
What started as a protest against the construction of an upscale beach resort in a protected area – a project linked to Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner – has turned into massive nightly gatherings in Tirana at which Albanians of varying ages and backgrounds gather to express their concerns and call for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
