Neko Health, the Stockholm-based HealthTech company, has today announced the completion of its €612.7 million ($700 million) Series C funding round, with the company preparing to launch its first US clinics opening in New York and other cities this year.
The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and co-led by O.G. Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Atomico, General Catalyst and Lakestar, alongside new backers including Liberty City Ventures, Positive Sum, and BDT & MSD. As part of the round, David Ofer of O.G. Venture Partners will join the Board of Directors. The fundraise follows a €250 million Series B in January 2025.
The funding round also saw participation from notable names such as Maria Sharapova, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, Thierry Henry, Ari Emanuel, Claudia Schiffer and Sir Matthew Vaughn, Danny Meyer, Jimmy Iovine, Tim Ferriss and will.i.am. They joined the company’s existing investors, including Alexis Ohanian from Seven Seven Six, Alex Tew and Michael Acton-Smith from Calm, Gary Vaynerchuk, Jessie Inchauspé, Katie Haun, Raj Shamani, Steven Bartlett, Zoë Saldaña and Marco Perego-Saldaña.
Hjalmar Nilsonne, Neko Health co-founder and CEO, said, “This funding is a strong vote of confidence in what we set out to do when we opened our first clinic three years ago: a completely new healthcare experience designed to keep people healthy, catch problems early and help prevent disease before it even starts.
“With this round, we’re taking that mission to the US for the first time, while continuing to invest in the research and technology that make prevention possible at scale. The clearest proof is in our members: the vast majority of our members return after their first scan, and when they do, their health markers move in the right direction.”
Founded in 2023 by Nilsonne and Daniel Ek (CEO and co-founder of Spotify), Neko Health aims to provide healthcare that’s proactive instead of reactive. The company states that its model combines the most advanced proprietary technology built in-house, clinical research and in-person analysis from clinicians. This helps the company to control the experience from start to finish.
Neko Health Scan is the company’s core offering, which is a 60-minute, comprehensive, non-invasive, and radiation-free health assessment that captures millions of health data points. It is priced at £299 in the UK and 2,750 SEK in Sweden.
The scan uses proprietary sensors alongside blood analysis to assess skin health, including moles and marks, biomarkers to identify pre-diabetes risk, as well as blood abnormalities, and risk factors linked to metabolic syndrome, stroke, and heart attack.
The company notes that the results are delivered on-site within minutes and discussed during an in-person consultation with a medical professional, providing members with personalised and actionable health findings.
Neko highlighted that this funding news comes three weeks after its most significant scan advancement to date. The scan can now capture body composition measures, and it can do so within seconds. The clinician review of wearable data is now live across all clinics. According to the company, this was made possible by Neko owning every part of its tech stack in-house. It builds technology in-house, including hardware, software, and consumer experience.
Last month, Neko opened its latest clinic in Stockholm, centred on the next generation of Neko-engineered medical devices, Derma-2, Echo-2, and Spectrum-2. These devices have been upgraded to capture a greater volume and higher-fidelity health signals across skin, heart, and circulation, with increased automation. This hardware will be rolled out across all Neko clinics in the next few months.
Bejul Somaia, Global Partner, Lightspeed Venture Partners, said, “Over the past eighteen months, Neko Health has demonstrated remarkable innovation and growth, attacking one of the largest markets in the world with breakthrough technology, proven consumer demand, and a clear path to global scale. We believe this is one of the most important healthcare companies of our generation, and we’re proud to deepen our partnership as they continue to reimagine prevention.”
Since launching in February 2023, Neko Health has expanded its footprint in Sweden and the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham and multiple locations in London (Marylebone, Spitalfields, Covent Garden, Victoria).
It reported that over 350,000 people have registered for a Neko Health Scan, and more than 100,000 members have already experienced one. It further highlighted that on average, 75% of members book and prepay a scan for the following year at the end of their appointment.
Neko claims that its latest health data shows that early detection is leading to noticeable health improvements among returning members. It also found that three in four returning members with previously identified severe or life-threatening conditions were in good health or had their condition under control. Overall, five of seven key biomarkers showed statistically significant improvement between Scan 1 and Scan 2.
